Is it no wonder why we are now discussing the world being flat? It hasn't just been telephones that have advanced to flatten this world, it has been TVs, computers, the internet, satellites, and so much more. The video clip The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman goes into many reasons why our world has become so small in terms of global business, collaboration, and communication between countries that are nowhere near one another, yet today, somehow are doing business like neighbors.
Based on this video, I would agree that our world is "flat". Mr. Friedman's points about the change in technology and advancements that keep coming make me honestly believe that even though companies, schools, and people are spread across the globe, we are still able to collaborate as if we were sitting in cubicles right next door!

I completely agree with you that the world is flat. In my global business class as an undergrad we learned that the Prius is an amazing car for the way that it is made. The batteries in particular are made globally. The nickel is mined in Canada, refined in Europe, assembled in eastern Europe and finally put into the car in Japan, and the car is then shipped to the US. And that is the easiest, most efficient way to manufacture it, because the world is flat. Its incredible really.
ReplyDeleteNice Graphic!
Nice job with the incorporation of the graphic. I really am a visual learner myself, so I love seeing videos and looking at info graphics. It is really incredible the advances that have been made in your short lifetime! You are lucky to have grown up in such incredible times! I didn't have clickers for my tv when I was little and certainly did not have cell phones. I was lucky to have the very first apple II computer though! Woo hoo! I am glad you can see the importance of technology and how it really can bring us so close together in many important ways! Especially with our students.
